NFL Week 2

Panthers2014 Season: Week 2

Good first week, gambling would have made me 80 cent on the dollar. Shut up nerds! I know that’s statistically breaking even! But I also got 11 of of the games picked, which puts me at the top of the family picks and tied with my niece who is frighteningly good at fantasy football.

I nailed the D.C. game or shall I call them the taboo name: Redskins! Although I wonder what the game would have been like if either of the teams’ offenses had made the game.

The other game I nailed was the Arizona game. Go figure, a Monday night game that went as planned…

Best of all, no, as in nada, jack, squat, oh, zero true failures!

Again this week there’s no free stupid money in Vegas, so no good bets. I’ll let you NYC boys know when the economy perks back up.

Springs’s 2014 NFL Week 2

Titans2014 Season: Week 2

Did you have a good first week? I didn’t do to badly on my first set of picks. But more about that below. It’s Week 2 and there are some interesting games coming up. Especially after last weekend. Did you think the Patriots would lose against the Dolphins? I certainly didn’t. Come on its New England!

With last week in mind, here are my picks for Week 2.
After the terrible showing from Romo last week, I think the Cowboys are too busy pointing fingers at each other, instead of working as a team to get it done. So I’m going with my Titans to win at home.

Over Minnesota the Vikings will be taking on the Pats. Now you’d think NE should have no problems winning that game, but the Vikings really didn’t play badly last week where as the Patriots did. Whatever is going on in New England, I don’t think it will be fixed by this Sunday. So I talked myself into going with Minnesota. I think Luck feels like he has something to prove after last weeks loss and he’s enough of a leader on that team to rally everyone behind him. Continue reading

Panthers2014 Season: Week 1

NFL Week 1

Well, so much for the economy being back to normal. No one in Vegas is moving the lines enough to take advantage of them. The computer has scheduled two ass whoopins: Buffalo and Cleveland both go down by 8 points. Ok so it’s more of a whack on the knuckles with a ruler, except there ain’t no nuns in Pittsburgh or Chicago.

2014 Season: Week 1 Picks

Can you believe it’s already Football time? Where did the summer go? It was shortened for us this year. Our county decided to send kids back to school 2 weeks early. Who thought this was a good idea!? I’m sure it will be great when May comes around and our kids are getting out for the summer. I’m up for that.

In the meantime, it’s time for football, yeah! We have our annual family friendly 9rediction competition, we call it our Power Picks Cup. Evil is the proud owner of the 2013 Power Picks Cup. But only because I didn’t make picks for the entire season last year. …that’s my story and I’m sticking to it….

So here we are a new season begins. Another chance to be the family Champion and claim our kewl lookin’ trophy. Hey, we think it’s kewl and it’s our trophy, no judgements from the peanut gallery.

Here’s my Week 1 picks.

Week 1

It’s always hard for me to make my picks at the beginning of the season. I don’t follow all the statistics, read all the analysis of the teams and their players based on pre-season. Who’s hurt, who’s not, who’s shining from camp and who looks like they had a hard summer. I use some gut feeling, some previous performance from last year and a little of what I remember from last years standings. Continue reading

Superbowl

Superbowl TrophyEvil’s Analysis and Picks

I got 100% of the picks last week. All both of them. Despite that I managed to get 1 out of 4 of the bets. Since when is it a bad bet that New England will cover a spread?

Superbowl still looks the same, Seattle will beat Denver by less than a point. Should be a good game. Unless you’re stupid and put money on it.

If you take a really good pair of binoculars and stand at any window in the White House, House or Senate buildings, and look very carefully, studying thoroughly what you see, you still won’t have the slightest idea of what the State of the Union is. I’m pretty sure this is exactly how they do it though.

What great games the conference championships were. And I think for the first time in a long while, the two best teams in the league are the ones going to the Superbowl. Denver had me scared for a little while. As did Seattle. But both of them stepped up and not only played to their potential, but at least in Seattle, they showed who put more heart into the game.

Now much has been said about Richard Sherman’s after game interview. All week I was seriously annoyed by how the Press insisted on showing only half the story. Thankfully Sports Illustrated stepped up and provided video of what caused Sherman’s outburst. Continue reading

NFL Conference

footballEvil’s Playoff Picks and Analysis

Had a great week last week, nailed half of the games. Of course, no good deed goes unpunished, so the one of the games I nailed saw my favorite team go home for the season.

I got 100% of the picks despite the Indianapolis D doing their dead level best to give me a true failure. Wonder if they got to see the end of that game when they got home.

Superbowl still looks pretty much the same, Seattle will still eek a win by Denver. Maybe a little bit closer of an eek there.

Wasn’t last weekend exciting? Each NFL game came down to the wire and it was anyone’s game!

Yeah I know, I was trying to make it sound exciting, but frankly the games last weekend were nowhere near as good as Wild Card weekend.

All my teams won, with the exception of the Panthers. Sadly that’s the one we cared about the most. Seeing as how Evil was born and raised in Charlotte, having the Panthers in the playoffs made everyone in the family happy. And it’s the one game I didn’t win. Continue reading

NFL Divisional

seahawksEvil’s Analysis for the Divisional Playoffs

Well the Wildcards sucked. At least the games were great. Well, except Cincinnati…

Clearly I was wrong about practicing your team in a blast freezer so they can be prepared for the cold. New advice: Keep your team warm and cozy right up till game time, if they get cold before the game, they will probably lose.

All I got for the Wildcards was a true failure. It was handed to me by my second most favorite team of all time, Green Bay. Maybe they were trying to save me from the agony of deciding whether to root for the Panthers or them. I need a new cheese head hat, more of a full helmet affair, with eye holes so I can become the unknown cheese head. Continue reading

Well I had a good wild card weekend! All the games were great to watch, entertaining and nail-biting. Any game that comes down to the final drive or final play to take it all has to be awesome!

I’m so glad the Saint’s pulled out their victory. Of all the games that occurred last weekend that’s the one I was interested in the most. I was a little surprised that Green Bay gave San Francisco such a hard time. But of course, in the end the 49’ers held the Packers off and took that game. And where did San Diego come from? They’re not supposed to be this good. But congrats to them as well. Continue reading
