NFL Week 10

Well, they beat the Saints, but left the Cardinals alone, I guess the Spanish Inquisition is over. All good things…

Here’s my take this week:

Right about football entering the Twilight Zone last week. And now we appear to be firmly lost in the zone…

NFL Week 9

It would appear that not only did St. Louis expect the Spanish Inquisition, they brought guns. I think if I was a Cardinal, I’d run, cause I’m betting they’re not going to make the distinction between guy in a funny hat and the bird…

Football seems to have gone off into the Twighlight Zone. I’m starting to think Kansas is going to the Superbowl. I wonder if the Land of Oz has a stadium big enough.

NFL Week 8

Last week sucked, although it probably sucked more for the teams who let me down. For instance, in Smokedland, Kansas City really came though. They scored an extra TD over my prediction. Apparently Smokedland’s offense missed the plane. Or, in this case, maybe they fell out of the plane.

Indianapolis had a major relapse, despite the seemingly successful operation earlier in the season to remove the team’s heads from their asses. In an embarrassing and extremely painful reverse operation, reminiscent of the Spanish Inquisition, The Saints put Indianapolis’ heads right back, helmet and all. Payton didn’t sit in the booth cause his leg hurt, he just didn’t want to get any blood on his suit. They say no one ever expects the Spanish Inquisition, but I bet St. Louis does…

I was sure glad I didn’t live in Smokedland. I was expecting riots. Maybe there were but all of them failed to score…

NFL Week 6

I’m well in positive territory in terms of overall gambling, which is weird.  There is only one good bet today, Dallas is NOT going to score 24 points in cold cold Foxboro, take the under bet.

San Diego has replaced New England in the Superbowl and will lose to Green Bay.

NFL Week 4

Well, good news for Indianapolis fans, the operation was successful. The teams heads have all been successfully removed from their asses. No word on how Manning’s operation went…

Not so good news for Minnesota. Getting beat by Detroit’s gotta hurt. Worse they failed to cover the spread even. And somewhere in Buffalo there are two missing defensive squads, fortunately for Buffalo they didn’t really need theirs.

I’m counting big on the recovery of Indy, they will cover the 10 point spread by beating Tampa, and that’s my one good bet for the week.

I can’t wait to see the Dallas game today. If the offense plays bad as they did Monday night, someone better check Romo to make sure he didn’t bring a gun on the field.

NFL Week 3

So much for positive territory in gambling. Of course, if my modeling is correct I should be down 3.20 on the dollar. Actually I’m down 4.80, which would be bad, if I were dumb enough to take even odds bets. At least I called the winner for 10 games.

This week the computer actually flagged 3 good bets, been a long time since that happened. The computer says Minnesota will not only cover the spread, but will stomp Detroit. My modeling doesn’t take into account injuries directly and I haven’t looked yet, but did Minnesota lose a star player last week? I didn’t even know they had a star player.

Then the computer says take the under bet in New England vs Buffalo, neither of these teams are going to do all that scoring.

Finally, and this one is suspect, it says Indianapolis will cover the 10 point spread against Pittsburgh by actually beating them. I guess that would depend on the team pulling their heads out of their asses and realizing that Manning was only 1/22 of the team. Granted he was a very good 1/22 piece but no where near the whole team.

Ok after looking at the news, it would appear that the gamblers’ idea of Minnesota is, after getting beat by  a team that far outclasses them, then beat by a mediocre team, they’re done?  I’d put real money on my bet.

Kid Thinking Out of the Balloon

Last night as the family was going to bed we were doing our usual impression of The Waltons, “Good night kid, good night Momma, Good night Daddy…” We heard the one of the cats getting into the toilet paper in the bathroom. I put the kibosh on that and went back to bed. I said, “We need some balloons so we can keep them out of the toilet paper and other various things they should avoid getting into.”

After a minute or so, which I suppose was how long it took the kid’s mind roll this around, the kid said, “That would be cool, if we hung the toilet paper from the balloon then they wouldn’t be able to reach it.”

Suddenly we’re cracking up because I started imagining all kinds of things hanging from helium balloons. I’m guessing the kid still doesn’t know how balloons really work to keep cats out of things.

E.W.

And I know some of you out there don’t know either. If you put a balloon in front of something you don’t want the cat to bother, when they swipe at it or try to climb it, it explodes. Most cats avoid those places afterwards.
