Feel The Power
One of the amazing things about the old Ashland train station is that you can be pretty close to the trains as they pass through town. Even as they slow down to the required 35mph they can still be a powerful force rumbling by. Even standing at the far edge of the walkway you can feel the ground shake in your feet. And the sound of the engines, especially on the longer trains that require multiple engines to pull greater number of cars, will rattle your chest.
On the north side of town, what we’d consider right outside of town, lies a small park with a picnic table. We’ve taken a blanket and some chicken to rest beside the tracks and watch the trains. It’s a little different view than by the old depot. But it’s still a lovely spot.
