Spring’s Week 12 Results & Week 13 Picks

Week 13 Picks

redskins2We hope everyone has a very happy, safe and drama free Thanksgiving Day! It’s a time to remember what’s really important in life and to have those people around you at this special time of the year.

It’s time for football too, so let’s get to it.

Last week I actually used stats to help me make my picks. I’m not going to do that again. Going back to gut feel. The game I’m looking forward to is New Orleans at Seattle, but that’s not until Monday night. For Turkey Day, I don’t see anything to be excited about today. But who knows maybe someone will be annoyed they have to work on Thanksgiving Day and play with a bit more heart. Of all the Thursday games, Pittsburgh at Baltimore might be the only one worth watching. Continue reading

Spring’s Week 11 Results & Week 12 Picks

TitansWeek 11 Results

Can you believe it’s almost Thanksgiving? Where has the season gone? Looking back at last week, it wasn’t bad at all in regard to my football picks at least. I was right about my pick for the Colts, but come on my Titans hung in there pretty well! It wasn’t a runaway game after all! I must admit I was surprised at how Buffalo so easily handled the Jets. I really thought NY was better than that. I appear to have been wrong about that.

Now someone explain to me how Tampa Bay beat Atlanta? Because I don’t get that one at all. I know we’re talking the best of two losers, but still. I thought Atlanta was better than that. Finally, I feel sorry for Green Bay. They seem to have a knack for putting their talent into their quarterback and when he’s down, the team can’t rally to live up to their potential. Of course they’re not the only team that has this problem. Continue reading

The 2013 Nascar Season

Racing Comes To A Close – For This Year

The year comes to a close for Nascar’s 2013 racing season. Despite the grumbling and hysterics on Twitter, I think it was an interesting and exciting year. But then I’m a race fan, not a fair weather fan.

I’m not so quick to blame Nascar for the poor attendance and lower TV ratings. People who do this don’t understand how much the Great Recession has hit this country. Many of us are still struggling to recover and we can’t afford our season race tickets. And for many of the races, require cable/dish to view. That too costs money many don’t have. But that’s a different story.

You can’t write about the end of the season without first saying a big Congratulations to the champions of the season. Continue reading

Spring’s Week 10 Results & Week 11 Picks

redskins2Week 10 Results

Not a bad week of picks; at least I broke even. My Skins lost, that was disappointing. How Tennessee lost to Jacksonville is beyond me.  Cincinnati came down to overtime. But truth be told, I don’t mind losing that pick. I love Baltimore!

The BIG shocker for me was Evil’s Panthers beating San Francisco. What in the world happened there? Are the Panther’s that good? Or did San Francisco assume that game would be a walk in the park and took it for granted? Part of me hopes they’re that good. But my gut tells me the 49’ers took it for granted on top of traveling cross country to an earlier time zone.

I’m glad Arizona squeaked out their win. I don’t think they played up to their potential against Houston. That or Houston has finally got their act together again. Continue reading

Spring’s Week 9 Results & Week 10 Picks

EaglesWeek 9 Results

Time for football! And I’m late posting my picks.

So last week I didn’t so badly. Not as well as Week 8, but still I finished Week with a 76% win ratio for the week and a 62% win ratio for the season.

My surprise was that Miami was able to defeat Cincinnati. That was a good game to watch. New Orleans losing, that wasn’t a good game to watch and my heart hurt for Drew Brees. My personal opinion, which isn’t worth much, his receivers let him down in that game.

So here’s how my week 9 went: Continue reading

Go Redskins!!!

redskins2Spring Thursday Night Pick.

Tonight the Skins take on the Vikings. While the numbers say the Vikings should handle the Skins, I can’t pick against my home team. So I’m backing Washington for the Thursday night game.

This is my first blog post from my phone. It’s not all that easy. So I’ll be back with the rest of this weekend’s games once I can wrestle my laptop from the man child.

Spring’s Week 8 Results & Week 9 Picks

TitansWeek 8 Results

This is a red letter week! Out of the 13 games played in Week 8, I missed 1 game. Giving me a win ratio for the week of 90%! Woohoo!! I was very excited. More so because it means I beat Evil’s computer program that he relies on to make his weekly picks. Yeah me!!

The game I missed was Philadelphia and the NY Giants. I really expected the Eagles to win at home. But it was not to be. I don’t think they were all to happy about losing either. Especially since it was a division match up. Nor was the little Prince all that happy that his team lost.

But for me it was an exceptional week of picks, so I can’t be too upset!

So here’s my results: Continue reading

New Rules 11/1 /2013!

At the end of “Real Time with Bill Maher” fans always look forward to his New Rules feature. They’re not only entertaining and funny, but they often inform and call people on the carpet for being politically stupid.

As was the case in this weeks Episode #299. But the New Rule that caught my attention in the segment featured Stewart-Haas Racing‘s Danica Patrick! Continue reading

NFL Week 8

greenbayEvil’s Picks, Bets & Analysis

One word: Meh. 50%. Made 67% of the good bets, thanks to the fact that neither of the horse teams have a defense. It either the Colts or Broncos had a defense that game would have been a blow out.

I nailed three games in Atlanta, Pittsburgh and Green Bay.

In the true failures category, Cincinnati scored one more TD than I planned and both DC and Chicago both left their defenses in a bar somewhere.

There is one good bet and that is that DC brings their defense to the game in Denver. That game will go under. Continue reading

Spring’s Week 7 Results & Week 8 Picks

redskinsWeek 7 Results

Not a bad week. Not a great week. There were some unexpected losses. But I finished Week 7 with a 60% win ratio. Come on, that’s at least ahead of the game. So to speak.

I’m wondering, as many might be, what’s happened to New England? Has Brady reached the downside of the mountain? Is he done? I don’t think so, but something is happening up there in the cold. It’s definitely odd that New England would lose again, and to the Jets no less.

I was really counting on the Prince’s Eagles to whallop Dallas. A division game that keeps Dallas in the hunt for a playoff spot. Yuck. That gives me the heebee-geebees just thinking it. Continue reading
