Spring’s Conference Results & Superbowl Picks

seahawksAFC and NFC Conference Results

What great games the conference championships were. And I think for the first time in a long while, the two best teams in the league are the ones going to the Superbowl. Denver had me scared for a little while. As did Seattle. But both of them stepped up and not only played to their potential, but at least in Seattle, they showed who put more heart into the game.

Now much has been said about Richard Sherman’s after game interview. All week I was seriously annoyed by how the Press insisted on showing only half the story. Thankfully Sports Illustrated stepped up and provided video of what caused Sherman’s outburst. Continue reading

Spring’s Division Playoff Results & Conference Picks

Wasn’t last weekend exciting? Each NFL game came down to the wire and it was anyone’s game!

Yeah I know, I was trying to make it sound exciting, but frankly the games last weekend were nowhere near as good as Wild Card weekend.

All my teams won, with the exception of the Panthers. Sadly that’s the one we cared about the most. Seeing as how Evil was born and raised in Charlotte, having the Panthers in the playoffs made everyone in the family happy. And it’s the one game I didn’t win. Continue reading

Childhood Memories

Kids Preferred, Inc. is known for bringing products to the marketplace under its own brand and through private label programs such as “Animal Alley” for Toys “R” Us!

A short tale for parents looking for that special Animal Alley plush toy from Toys “R” Us! I hope it helps you find your child’s most favorite friend.

In March 2004, Evil and I took our son for his first childhood shots. An unhappy experience for everyone concerned. Of course the little Prince doesn’t remember anything about it, thankfully. But Mom and Dad sure do! So when your parents tell you “It hurt me more than you”, what they mean is, your folks keep that memory of fear and tears with them for the rest of their lives.

To celebrate his being a “big boy”, we took the little prince to our local Toys “R” Us®. We put him in the cart and started through the aisles. At some point we made our way down the stuffed animal aisle. Continue reading

Spring’s Wild Card Results & Division Playoff Picks

PanthersWild Card Results

Well I had a good wild card weekend! All the games were great to watch, entertaining and nail-biting. Any game that comes down to the final drive or final play to take it all has to be awesome!

I’m so glad the Saint’s pulled out their victory. Of all the games that occurred last weekend that’s the one I was interested in the most. I was a little surprised that Green Bay gave San Francisco such a hard time. But of course, in the end the 49’ers held the Packers off and took that game. And where did San Diego come from? They’re not supposed to be this good. But congrats to them as well. Continue reading

Spring’s Week 17 Results & Wild Card Picks

New Orleans SaintsWeek 17 Results

I had a good week! 13 of the 16 final games. That’s a win ratio of 81%! Woohoo me. I’m excited my Titans won!! Yeah. Though I wish they could have made it to the playoffs. The consolation prize, Dallas didn’t make it either. HeeHee! The three teams that let me down were in toss-up games. At least I think they were. The Jets handily took out Miami. Minnesota stepped it up and took out the Lions. And Kansas City fell to the Chargers. But they didn’t go down easy. That was a good game. Any game that falls into overtime is generally a good game. Whither it means something or not, it’s good football.

Now the big news on Twitter for December 29th was the decision by CBS to switch their broadcast of Denver at Oakland game at halftime to the Kansas City at San Diego game. Many people were quite angry about that decision. They wanted to see Peyton Manning make history. But when the teams returned from the locker room, Peyton did not start the second half. So fans didn’t miss what they thought they were going to miss.

But as my Twitter friend Voodoo Fairy said:
“..that’s like going to a commercial in a #nascar race & coming back to a tractor pull :-/”. Yes..yes it is. So here are my results for this years regular season. Continue reading

Spring’s Week 16 Results & Week 17 Picks

footballWeek 16 Results

Well it wasn’t a great week, but at least I got 9 of the 16 games. I don’t see how Minnesota clobbered Kansas City so badly, especially since they were at home! Did KC forget to show up for the game? And what happened to Denver? Is Houston really that good and they simply haven’t played up to their potential until week 16? I don’t know about that.

The big surprise to me occurred up in Seattle. Where did they go last week? Cause they didn’t stay home. Maybe they thought they were playing in an away game and they went to Arizona instead. Of course I picked my Skins against our dreaded rivals the Cowboys and I thought they might actually pull it off But alas, that didn’t happen.

With one more week to go, here’s my final results with a 56% win ratio and a 55% ratio for the season. Continue reading

Sharing With The Bitly Sidebar

bitly-sidebarHow To Get The Old Bitly Sidebar Back

I’ve been using Bitly for years and years. It’s been a great tool for shortening links on our many blogs and sharing updates, news, game contests and more. I LOVE the time it has saved me and the ease of use of the sidebar add-on.

No matter what browser you used, it was easy to install and easy to use. Until…..

In December 2013 Bitly changed their Bitly Sidebar with a new and “not improved” Bitmark. Long time users really didn’t like it and many people updated their browsers without realizing they couldn’t get the old Sidebar back.

If you liked the Old Bitly sidebar, you had the option to get it back by creating your own booklet or bookmarklet.

Update: 06/2014
Sadly Bitly has disabled the script that allowed this to continue, which now forces everyone to use their sucky pop-up. I hate that thing.

But here’s how you created the old sidebar bookmarklet.

  • Right click on your bookmark bar.
  • Create a new Bookmark.
  • In the Name field, select a name that you like. I called mine “Bitly”.
  • In the Location field, paste this code:
    javascript:var%20e=document.createElement(‘script’);e.setAttribute(‘language’,’javascript’);e.setAttribute(‘src’,’//bitly.com/bookmarklet/load.js’);document.body.appendChild(e);void(0);
  • Save the bookmark and you’re good to go.

Some other bloggers have this code with a little extra in it that adds some annoying advertisements to your bitly sidebar. This is nothing but the original bitly side bar feature. I promise.  😉

Now on my browser, you can do all things you used to do except actually share the tweet. I’m guessing Bitly has disabled the script on their end. But I’d rather have the old bitly and then copy and paste the tweet into Tweet Deck and share it through the accounts I want to use.

I also suggest going to Bitly.com and sending the Support staff a note and let them know your displeasure with taking away a perfectly great feature. At the very least, they should offer both versions! Even if they don’t provide support to the old version.
