Circuit City Bankruptcy

Today CNN reported that Circuit City is filing for Bankruptcy. Their reasons are increased competition from Wal-Mart and Best Buy, along with the credit crunch and financial market woes. As a former IT Auditor at Circuit City, let me say B.S.!

Circuit City is an extremely poor run company that wastes it budgets and refuses to listen to those who point out the obvious. In IT alone, you can’t expect to cut costs by laying off your most senior and knowledgeable employees, while you’re wasting money on unnecessary 3rd party maintenance agreements, over blown consulting contracts and refusing to correct security issues that put your customer’s data at risk.

A Journal Of History In The Making

Tonight we witnessed History in the making. I never thought I’d see the first black president of the U.S. in my life time. I thought I’d see a woman perhaps. But even then, I expected that not to occur until 2020 or beyond. This evening I keep thinking about my son and what he will see in his life time. What will he think about this day when he looks back in history. It is for him that I write this entry to our blog. So he has some understanding of what his Mom and Dad thought about on this night.

What Would An Intelligent Woman Say? – Part II

This week (Thursday September 25, 2008), CBS News anchor Katie Couric met with Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin at the United Nations for Part II of her interview. Much of the discussion focused on foreign policy, which some say could be Palin’s weakness.

Once again, I could answer these questions better than Palin.  What follows is Part II of an exclusive interview with Gov. Palin and my responses to Katie’s questions just to prove the point that I could answer these more intelligently than a person who stands second in line to the Oval Office.

What Would An Intelligent Woman Say?

(CBS) When CBS News anchor Katie Couric sat down for an exclusive interview with vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin Wednesday (September 24, 2008), she focused on the economy, the campaign and foreign affairs. The second part of the interview (the foreign affairs) will air September 25, 2008.

Her answers, in my view were lacking in thought and substance for someone who might lead the United States as President. I could answer these questions better than she did. Of course I’m considering myself to be an Intelligent Woman. Which got me thinking, what would I say if I was running for the position and interviewed by Couric?

Here’s the first part of the interview and the answers to Katie’s questions.

Now some of this isn’t easy for me to answer, as I don’t support McCain. But even so, there were better ways for Palin to answer these questions. Some of the questions have been deleted because they were based on the bad answers given by Palin and since I wouldn’t have answered those questions in the same way, the follow up doesn’t make sense.

Thoughts on Enron… er… AIG

I saw the President’s speech last night. Sounded a lot like he said, “The sky is falling!” This morning, I saw Senator McCain say he came back to Washington because this is a situation for “all hands on deck.” Soon as I heard that, I switched from CNN to C-Span to see what “all hands on deck” looks like. What I saw was a Representative in a nearly empty chamber, discussing the pardon of some guy who was wrongfully convicted due to race, followed by later a discussion of forests in the Pacific west. Maybe it’s just me, but it didn’t look like there were any emergencies happening. Unfortunately, I don’t get the other C-Span channels thanks to local county politics giving Comcast a monopoly here.

Taking America Back From Wall Street!

So we’re in a financial crisis. Financial analysts on TV are giving their insight and assumptions. Americans are fed up and scared.  But what can be done about it? Well the first thing is to write to your senator or congressman. Instead of just blogging, instead of just complaining, take action and 10 minutes and write your representatives.

Email Your Representative:

Contact Your Elected Officials:

http://www.usa.gov/Contact/Elected.shtml

This site will link you to the various contact pages for Fed and State representatives. It’s ok if you don’t know the names of your representatives, the contact pages will help you find them.

Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee:

Contact House Financial Services Committee:

I’ll even help and make it easier for you and give you an example. This is what I sent to my Senators Warner & Web, my Congressman Cantor and to both the Senate and House Finance Committees:

McCain Just Pushed My Vote To Obama

Gov. Sarah Palin as Vice President. Was it a good choice? What does she bring to the table? Well let’s see –

She is against any type of abortion, including those involving incest and rape. Tell a 14 year old who was raped by her uncle and has become pregnant that the trauma of the rape isn’t all she has to deal with; but the emotional trauma of being forced to carry her rapists baby is now facing her for the next 9 months. From this rape survivor it’s a demand that no person has the right to put on any woman. And it’s even less understandable coming from another woman. My guess is, she has no experience with rape and incest victims, no idea of the emotional trauma one goes through after being raped, and no earthly idea of what one deals with in trying to heal from these devastating events. This alone causes me to seriously question the choice.

An Open Letter To Anderson Cooper

On July 7, 2008 – Anderson Cooper’s 360 ran a story about the mistreatment of a U.S. soldier by the military because he’s an atheist. This is not unusual as the U.S. military is known for unfair practices against any soldier who does not follow the Christian faith. Rev. Spring wrote the following letter to Mr. Cooper in response to this story.

CNN Promotes Pagan Bigotry

I’m annoyed, appalled, and in general truly annoyed by something I saw and heard on CNN’s Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer this evening (12.21.2006). Today the big topic dealt with Rep.Virgil Goode (R) of Virginia who wrote a letter to his constituents that unless immigration is tightened, more Muslims will become members of Congress. A reference to incoming Representative Keith Ellison of Minnesota. Ellison touched off controversy recently when he indicated he’d include the Koran as part of his swearing in ceremony next month.During a segment of the show Wolf Blitzer speaks to Paul Begala and Bay Buchanan, CNN Political Analysts. Like everyone else they condemn the comments made by Rep. Goode. In the words of Begala “Virgil Goode is a bigot and he’s an idiot.”
